October 2018, Ruder Elementary, Columbia Falls, MT
The 4th graders at Ruder Elementary LOVE science. I visited each class to talk about the senses and, of course, to play some science games.
I almost forgot my labcoat!
The name of the game was guessing, but kids could only use their sense of smell (what’s in the cup?) or touch (what’s in the box?).
Was that cinnamon or vanilla? Apple or banana? Perhaps lemon??
These kids are so clever! They easily guessed the flashlight, but also a tape measure, harmonica, and thread spool!
Before and after my visit the kids did the Draw-a-Scientist exercise, which brings awareness to kids’ perception of science and scientists. I particularly love the afters!
Riley wants to make sure this scientist thing doesn’t go to my head…
I can’t wait to go back to Ruder!
